I am obviously getting worse at this "keeping up with the blog" journal, but I'm still going to keep trying. I want to keep as much of a record of this precious journey as possible, so Prepare to be overloaded while I play catch up :)
The Baby shower is in 5 days and everything is coming together nicely. I'm so excited to see all my family and friends and enjoy a nice little luncheon and party to celebrate this adorable little man!!
Then comes the nursery:
| My first sewing attempt in a long time turned out really cute: Presenting the crib skirt. Wa-la!! I'm in love |
| After I mastered the crib skirt, I busted out two home made crib sheets. One is plain orange, and the other is this orange with white polka dots. It's going to be so cute when it all comes together. |
| My last big sewing project for the room was the matching crib quilt. Thankfully I have amazingly talented friends who can quilt little man's quilt for me and it will be the piece that ties all the patterns and colors in the room together. |
| I spent some time in the nursery organizing, cleaning, removing what didn't belong in the room and finalizing the placement of all the furniture. It took some time, and we rearranged a few times before we finally ended up with things right where they started. Go figure. |
| And!!! The Rocker Swivel Recliner came in Friday and it fits perfectly in it's place. I'm so excited for the many long nights I"m sure I'll spend in that chair with our little love. Can Not Wait! |
| Aside from Baby-ness, Justin played in a Fundraiser Softball tournament over the 16th-17th here in town. I went down and watched the team play on Saturday, and unlike the last tournament he played in- we didn't get rained out. It was actually pretty burning hot. It was really fun to get out and support though and watch my man play ball. |
| My biggest mistake was underestimating the power of the sun on pregnant skin. Apparently it sunburns easier and I'm still paying the price for that "sunscreenless in flip flip's" weekend. Before I left the ball field that evening, my "red socks" were glowing, burning and swelling. |
| By the next day, my feet were so painful and swollen that I couldn't even fit shoes on properly and ended up going home from work to soak my feet in Apple Cider Vinegar Ice water. |

It is totally not a pretty sight.
Thank heaven for Sally Hansen leg makeup to help me make wearing anything besides jeans look somewhat presentable. It's not amazing yet, but we are definitely on the healing side of things.
I went in for our 27 week checkup four days after this tournament and our doctor was highly un-impressed... which I couldn't blame him. I was sooo swollen and sooo red-- he told me that I had nearly reached 3rd degree burns and that next time I needed to wear sunscreen or just cover my skin completely.
Dually noted Doc... |
As I was spending my days on the couch with my feet elevated/on ice...I got a little stir crazy.
Bless my sweet husband who volunteered to have a "pajama movie night" with me and took me to see Million Dollar Arm. We love baseball/softball- obviously- so this was a really fun show for us to go see together, and I was soo glad to be off the rotten couch!!! |
| Then came Spring Time and the adorable little babies that accompany it. My dad keeps and raises horses on his farm, and when he gets a newborn, we try and spend as much time with it as possible. This little boy is half Belgian and half Quarter horse, and he is a strong little boy. They're still so sweet and fun to play with though! |
| Liddy and Ace couldn't be left out on all the pampering that was going on so they got a {well needed} bath and brush and ran around showing off for a few days. We sur elove these little rascals...even though there are moments we all want to kill eachother. I can't wait to see what good little pals they make for the baby when he's born. I would love for him to have "his dog" and I'm sure they would love to be his best friend. |
We decided to share a garden with my parents this year since our yard is still a construction zone, so over Memorial Day weekend, I went down to the farm and we planted...and we planted...and we planted some more.
This is one of my favorite memories of summers as a child... We planted, weeded, harvested, ate, bottled and shared from our garden all summer long. I am so blessed to have been raised by such brilliant parents who taught me to appreciate hard work, and good food. They brought to life "you reep what you sow" and they taught me how to share the wealth and to preserve what we could for the future- never being wasteful.
I'm excited to pass these amazing learning experiences on to our children as they grow and complain about pulling weeds...just like I did..haha |

I was so excited that Jusitn's anniversary present finally came in. After 6 years of marriage, he finally let me order him a fancy wedding ring. He chose a black diamond in Damask Metal and it suits him so well. I absoultely love it and so does he.
| We are also making some decent progress on the back yard!!! Here's the retiaining wall all formed up... |
And here it is the morning after we poured the concrete...
Man am I anxious to get all this yard work rollin and done. It will be so nice to have finished!! Love it! |
And then there's this stinkin adorableness that I"m so hooked on.
Can't wait for this little man to get here! |
| Finally chose and ordered a diaper bag last week... It's all becoming so real... |
| Then this last weekend, I went with Justin and his softball team to Wendover for another tournament. It was my first time ever going to Wendover. |
| We passed the Great Salt Lake-- which was actually really beautiful... |
| And I had to try and win the million dollars for my boss on the progressive slot machines or whatever with his $20 but to no avail. We'll have to find another way to make our fortune... |
